JUNIOR SUMMER PROGRAMMES
St. Columbas College
This Junior Summer Programme includes:
15 hours tuition per week (60 minute lessons)
Full sports and activities programme in the afternoons
Full evening activities programme
1 full day excursion per week, packed lunch provided
Full board residential accommodation in school
Hot meals provided in the school
Use of textbooks and course materials
Certificates of Attendance on satisfactory completion of the course

Typical Daily Time-table
Morning 10.00-13.30 Lunch 13.30-14.30 Afternoon 14.30-16.45 Evening, English Language Classes Hot Lunch at the School Sports, Arts & Crafts Dinner and activities at school.
Every Sunday: Full-day excursion to counties such as Wicklow and Meath.
The First Day
On the first day, junior students will be instructed to gather at the main school building of St Columbas College at 09.45.

The English Course
Students attend 3 hours of class every morning; two teachers teach each group. Levels are from Elementary to Advanced please note that we do not accept beginners. The Course Director will endeavour to form classes that are well balanced in terms of age, gender, and nationality. Although all the skills are practised, the main focus is on communication and the production of language. All course materials are provided though students are advised to bring a dictionary and writing materials.
Afternoon Activities
After the lunch break, students take part in afternoon activities, which are compulsory. Activities are organised and supervised by sports staff, monitors and group leaders.
Typical Activities may include: Golf, Arts and Crafts, Football, Table Tennis, Dancing, Baseball, Basketball, Indoor soccer, Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, Yoga, Shopping Trip.
Evening Activities
Each evening there are fully supervised activities at the school such as Disco, Talent Competition, Quiz, Karaoke, Concert, Sports Tournament.
Full Day Excursions
We offer one full day excursion per week each Sunday. All excursions are fully supervised by our staff and all entrance fees are included in the fees.
Typical visits may include:
Ancient monastic site at Glendalough and Bray coastal town
Dublin Zoo and shopping in the city centre
Powerscourt House and Gardens
Croke Park Museum and National Museum of Ireland
Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown Shopping Centre
Birr Castle Demesne
Accommodation
There are 2 types of accommodation at St Columbas College as below. You will be advised when booking which type of accommodation is available for your students.
Grange Accommodation
These newly-built boarding houses located on the school grounds, consist of 4 and 6 bed dormitories.
A courtyard separates the boy and girl boarding houses. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with the 6 bed dormitories having 2 showers. Other accommodation includes newly built dormitory accommodation with shared bathrooms. The type of accommodation depends on availability.
Argyle Accommodation
These newly renovated boarding houses are also located on the school grounds and consist of dormitory style accommodation with private partitioned areas. This accommodation is very modern and spacious and bathroom facilities are located on each floor.
Laundry/Towels/Bed Linen
Bed linen is provided and changed every 2 weeks but students must bring their own towels. A laundry service is provided on a weekly basis, unless special care is required such as hand washing, in which case, students should take care of his or her own laundry. All laundry will be tumble-dried so items unsuitable for tumble drying should not be sent with the laundry.
ALL ITEMS OF LAUNDRY MUST BE NAME-TAGGED (including socks, underwear)
Supervision and Welfare
Students may not leave the school premises at any time unless accompanied by a monitor. There is 24 hour supervision in operation with a member of staff staying on each floor of each boarding house every night.
Medical Conditions
Please inform us in advance of your student(s) arrival of any medical Condition(s) your student(s) may have or if he/she is bringing medication with them. This includes conditions such as allergies, bedwetting and food intolerance.
Pocket Money
Pocket money may be deposited in the school safe and given to the student, as required. Students are advised not to carry large sums of cash with them at any time and passports and identity cards should not be taken on outings or excursions.
Your student should bring the following items:
Towel(s)
Sports shoes and sports wear
Swimming costume and swimming towel
Rain jacket
Copy book and pen
Small dictionary (not compulsory)
Personal toiletries (i.e. shampoo, shower gel etc.)
