Ibo Island Lodge is situated north of Pemba on the Indian Ocean paradise of Ibo Island, one of a string of 27 tropical islands that make up the breathtakingly beautiful Quirimbas Archipelago.  Remote and romantic Ibo has an intriguing past and the island has recently been nominated for World Heritage status.  For nearly 500 years Ibo was a prosperous trading post along the stunning East African coast and to this day three forts, a beautiful old catholic church and numerous ancient trading buildings stand guard over the sea.  Pirates, ivory and the slave trade are a part of this tiny palm-fringed coral island’s rich history. 

Ibo Island Lodge encompasses 3 magnificent mansions each over 1 hundred years old and each one located right on the prime waterfront site, where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide. Each of the 14 rooms are individually designed, en-suite, large, air conditioned and boast antiques and handcrafted furniture with magnificent wooden doors and shutters that evoke the original design. Meals feature freshly Ibo-grown organic vegetables, fruits and produce combining traditional specialties with seafood. Romantic dinners are served on the wide tranquil verandas or on the roof terrace restaurant,t both with awesome views over the sea.

Activities enable guests to immerse themselves in the unchanged, ancient culture of Ibo as well as interact with the wonderfully hospitable islanders and a visit to Ibo is ideally combined with one of the other beach destinations of the Quirimbas.
