Day
1 - London/Nairobi
Depart London-Heathrow
to Nairobi on the day time flight. On
arrival you will be met by an A&K
representative and transferred to the
historic Norfolk Hotel for your
overnight accommodation. Probably
Kenya's most famous hotel - and
certainly its oldest - The Norfolk has
been drawing the rich and famous to its
hallowed doors since it first opened on
Christmas Day 1904.
Day 2 - Nairobi/Meru
National Park
Following breakfast
you will be met and transferred from the
hotel to Wilson Airport where you will
take a light aircraft flight to Meru
National Park. Your base for the next
three nights is at the beautiful setting
of Elsa’s Kopje. Named after the
lioness of ‘Born Free’ fame,
Elsa’s Kopje blends into the rocky
crags just above George Adamson’s
original campsite.
Day 3 - Meru National
Park
Enjoy a full day
exploring Meru, with its variety of
different habitats; forests, swamps and
savannah. The rivers and streams are a
haven for birds and thus provide the
perfect base for budding ornithologists.
Guided game walks are a fabulous way to
connect with the flora and fauna of Meru
and the experienced staff at Elsa’s
Kopje will lead you on an unforgettable
adventure.
Day 4 - Meru National
Park/Lewa Downs
The adventure starts
early today with a thrilling private
charter flight from Meru to the
foothills of Mount Kenya and Lewa Downs.
Once a cattle ranch and later a heavily
guarded black rhino sanctuary, Lewa
today is the head quarters of a
non-profit wildlife conservancy. A fine
example of conservation in action, Lewa
will offer you an insight into one of
Kenya’s great success stories.
Stay for the next
three nights at Wilderness Trails
situated in the wildlife-rich eastern
corner of the conservancy, and home to
the Craig family for over 30 years.
Days 5 to 6 - Lewa
Downs
There are plenty of
activities at Wilderness Trails to keep
you entertained. Professional guides
lead customised daily safaris and
provide insightful education about the
surrounding flora, fauna, animal
behaviour, conservation and Lewa
history.
Day 7 - Lewa
Downs/Masai Mara
Fly from Lewa across
the plains to the Masai Mara. Here you
will be staying at Olonana, a stunning
camp situated on the banks of the River
Mara deep in the game rich Mara
Conservancy.
Days 8 to 9 - Masai
Mara
The following days are
yours to relax and enjoy the Masai Mara
and Olonana’s personalised service.
Take morning and afternoon game drives,
relax at your tent, or visit the local
manyatta to learn more about the
Maasai’s pastoral way of life.
Day 10 - Masai
Mara/Nairobi/London
Fly from the Masai
Mara back to Nairobi. Spend a day in
Nairobi, where a day room has been
reserved for you, before your overnight
British Airways flight to
London-Heathrow arriving early the
following morning.
