Indian Ocean, lies Kurland, a luxury
country hotel, established by the
Baroness Diane Behr on the age-old
Behr family estate near Plettenberg
Bay. With beautifully
appointed and tranquil reception and
sitting rooms, comfortable chairs on
the spacious, shaded veranda, and
inviting recliners by the palm
fringed, sparkling pool this is a
place for peace and total
relaxation.
Kurland’s tastefully decorated
and spacious rooms are designed to
cater for the guests every comfort.
Each one is individually styled and
display some enviable objects d'art,
antique furniture and original oil
paintings. Ten of the bedrooms
have loft rooms especially designed
for children and some have private
plunge pools for those hot Cape
summer evenings. Children of
all ages are welcome at Kurland,
with a host of activities and
facilities catering for their needs
including horse riding, a games room
and their own pool. Other
facilities include a tennis court, a
health spa, beauty treatments and
gymnasium. In season, polo
matches are also part of the daily
activities as are visits to the
fabulous sandy beaches nearby and
walks through the vast estate and
over lush polo fields.
