Cape Town (3nts) - Whichaway Camp (4nts) - emperor penguins (3nts) or Mountain Expedition (5nts) - Whichaway Camp (1nt) - Cape Town (1nt)

Day 5 - Cape Town/Antarctica

Five hour flight by private jet across the Southern Ocean to Antarctica. Land on a specially prepared ice runway before heading to the high-tech, tented Whichaway Camp, perched on top of a 200ft icefall with incredible views across the snow-white plains and immense ice waves on the horizon.

Days 6 to 8 - Whichaway Camp

After settling into camp, enjoy a range of activities with your expert guides, from gentle treks across the massive ice disturbances and exploring ice caves to rock and ice climbing on nearby Nunatak Mountain. Hike to the one of the nearby lakes for a picnic or more surprisingly a swim, call in on nearby research centres or visit the Adelie penguins resident on a nearby island.

Days 9 to 11 or 13 - Whichaway Camp/emperor penguins or mountain expedition

Fly three hours to the immense emperor penguin colony on the Ekstroem Ice Shelf to spend three days (weather dependent) at a traditional camp experiencing the colony at its most busy. The penguins are unafraid of human contact allowing you to truly experience the delights of the hatching season.

Alternatively, spend four or so days at Expedition Camp beside Ulvetanna Peak, one of the most beautiful mountains on earth. Arrive by plane before settling in to a traditional camp. Explore the region and enjoy adrenalin fuelled activities (weather permitting); abseiling, ice climbing, skiing trips and even kite-skiing are all possible. A highlight is hiking through kilometre deep crevasses - an utterly extraordinary experience!

Day 12 - Whichaway Camp

Return to Whichaway Camp for relaxation or further activities.

Day 13 - Antarctica/Cape Town

This morning, return by jet to Cape Town.
