The Manor has a mere six bedrooms all of which are ensuite and one of which is suitable for children. Being built in the 1930’s The Manors interiors decor reflects the fashion of the day, creating accommodation that is both varied and stylish. Room configurations are: Master bedroom – double. Giraffe Room – twin. Morning room – twin. Middle room – double. Children of all ages are welcome at Giraffe Manor, although it should be remembered that the atmosphere is very much that of a private house party, and children should be kept under control. Giraffe Manor has built a reputation for excellent cuisine, and this trademark of service continues. Meals are taken in the wood panelled dining room, with great ceremony.

3 nights at Sasaab

Sasaab is a safari destination with a difference. Located in the harsh but beautiful lands of northern Kenya, where temperatures are warm, the lodge is designed on strong Moroccan principles making it Kenya’s most stylish safari lodge. Sasaab comprises 9 luxurious suites which are spacious and designed to act as a private sanctuary. Each with plunge pool and a chill out space (either a verandah or mini-garden), and large open air bathrooms, every room is intensely private. Meals are offered in various areas around the lodge, and private dining on guests’ verandah or by the pool is offered on request. The finest Kenyan produce is combined with the Moroccan theme that runs throughout Sasaab, to create a thrilling fusion of flavours. Children of all ages are welcome at Sasaab.
Day 3 & 4:
Guests can participate on morning and afternoon game drives on open vehicles where a wide variety of game can be seen. Samburu is also the home of the ‘Samburu Special Five’, which includes the Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk & Somali Ostrich. Abundant birdlife and fauna along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro offer great game viewing either by foot, vehicle or on a camel. Sasaab’s position high on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro means that it is the perfect place to sit and watch game. Elephants frequently come to the opposite bank. Other activities include: guided walks, bird watching, star gazing, swimming pool, internet access.
Day 5:
Depart Sasaab early for a game drive and bush breakfast to Buffalo Spring. Connect with a flight to the Masai Mara.
At Keekorak Airstrip, guests are met by a guide from Sala’s Camp and enjoy a game drive to Sala’s for lunch.
3 nights at Sala’s Camp
Sala’s Camp is located in the southern Sector of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, on the confluence of the Sand and Keekorok Rivers just a few kilometres north of the Tanzanian border. The Camp itself is a seasonal tented camp, open for seven months of the year and boasting a unique position looking over the Sand river towards Tanzania, and the ‘Northern Corridor’ where nearly 2 million wildebeest migrate annually from Tanzania into Kenya, and then back again. Sala’s Camp offers seven en-suite tents, each of which is designed to offer the height of luxury on safari under canvas. Each tent has hot showers and a flushing toilets as well as a huge driftwood bed with ultra comfy mattress and linens. Whilst comfort is the first concern, Sala’s Camp retains the traditional simplicity of the pioneering days. Children of all ages are welcome, although it should be remembered that the camp is entirely open and not fenced off, so children should be kept a close eye on.
Day 6 & 7:
Activities are entirely up to guests themselves, but in this area of prolific big five wildlife sighting, early game drives are recommended to witness predators seeking out their prey, and late afternoon drives when the light is at its softest. During the world-famous annual Migration of wildebeest which takes place annually from July – September, guests may opt for a full day game drive to a crossing point, taking a picnic lunch with them. Sala’s location on the confluence of the Sand and Keekorok rivers mean that it is a true haven for birdlife. Star gazing is also a great treat in this area of clear skies and no light pollution.
Day 8:
There are two options today: either an early check out followed by a game drive to the airstrip for the 11h00 flight back to Nairobi, or remain in camp for a leisurely and take an extra lunch (US$30), to connect with the late afternoon flight to Nairobi at 16h00.
If guests take the earlier flight from Sala’s, a dayroom will be booked at Giraffe Manor for those with evening flights back to Europe. If they have a daylight flight the following day, an overnight stay at Giraffe Manor can be arranged.
