Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1 On arrival at Nairobi International
Airport guests are met by a representative from
Giraffe Manor and transferred by road to the
Manor, 45 minute road transfer. Airport
transfers from Jomo Kenyatta and Nairobi Wilson
is included in the rates.
1 NIGHT: GIRAFFE MANOR

DAY 2 Enjoy an early morning breakfast in
the company of the endangered Rothschild
Giraffes and transfer to Wilson Airport. Connect
with one of the twice daily flights between
Wilson Airport and Nanyuki. Guests are collected
from Nanyuki airstrip and transferred by road to
Solio Lodge (20 minute drive)
2 NIGHTS: SOLIO LODGE
DAY 3 Enjoy the privacy and vastness that
Solio Ranch has to offer. Take a morning walk or
horseback safari to experience wildlife and
nature one on one, followed by an afternoon and
/ or night 4x4 safari. Once evening, enjoy a
sundowner walk, perhaps after a helicopter
safari for breathtaking views around the area or
after a day fishing in the Aberdare mountains.
Please note that the helicopter safari must be
pre-booked and is at an additional cost.
DAY 4 Early breakfast advised to allow
guests to transfer to Nanyuki to catch the
Safarilink flight en-route to Samburu from
Nairobi. It is a small difference in
rate, but a huge difference in timing. The
scheduled flight lands at Buffalo Springs which
is a good 3 hours road transfer to Sasaab. While
a private charter lands at the Sasaab trip with
a 10 minute road transfer. Arrive at Sasaab mid
afternoon
3 NIGHTS: SASAAB

DAY 5 & 6 Guests can participate on
morning and afternoon game drives on open
vehicles where a wide variety of game can be
seen. Samburu is the home of the ‘Samburu
Special Five’, which includes the Beisa Oryx,
Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk
& Somali Ostrich. Abundant birdlife and
fauna along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro offer
great game viewing either by foot, vehicle or on
a camel. For one night why not go fly camping
into the far reaching areas of the
conservancy? New for 2011 it promises to be
spectacular. All day game drives or half day
game drives can be arranged with a delicious
picnic to enjoy in the middle of the bush.
Sasaab’s position high on the banks of the
Ewaso Nyiro means that it is the perfect place
to sit and watch game. Elephants frequently come
to the opposite bank. Other activities to enjoy
include: guided walks, bird watching, star
gazing, swimming pool and the gem that is
SpaSaab overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River to
work away stresses of everyday life. Sasaab is
very closely linked to the local Samburu tribes
and it is highly recommended to go on a cultural
trip to the local village to meet and understand
the welcoming and hard working Samburu way of
life.
DAY 7 Depart Sasaab early for a game
drive and bush breakfast en-route to Buffalo
Spring airstrip. Connect with the schedule
charter flights from Safarilink to the Masai
Mara.
On arrival at Keekorak Airstrip, guests are
met by a guide from Sala’s Camp and enjoy a
game drive through the Mara to Sala’s arriving
in time for lunch.
3 NIGHTS: SALA’S CAMP
DAY 8 & 9 Activities are entirely up to guests
themselves, but in this area of prolific big five wildlife
sighting, early game drives are recommended to witness
predators seeking out their prey, and late afternoon drives
when the light is at its softest. During the world-famous
annual Migration of wildebeest which takes place annually
from July – September, guests may opt for a full day game
drive to a crossing point, taking a picnic lunch with them.
Sala’s location on the confluence of the Sand and Keekorok
rivers mean that it is a true haven for birdlife. Star
gazing is outstanding in this area of clear skies.
DAY 10 After a hearty breakfast guests will be
transferred to Keekerok airstrip to catch the Safarilink
flight back to Nairobi.
A road transfer will then take the guests from Wilson
Airport (regional flights) to Jomo Kenyatta International
Airport (international flights). Allow an hour transfer time
between the two airports.
