FAMILY SAFARI
Amboseli - Laikipia - Masai Mara
10 Day Flying Safari
DAY 1 MACUSHLA HOUSE, Nairobi
Transfer from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Macushla (Gaellic for ‘My Beloved’) appreciated for it’s eclectic collection of artefacts from all over the world and serene atmosphere. The house has six bedrooms and two lounges with open log fires, a swimming pool and spacious verandahs. Many places of interest for children are within short driving distances including Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage (where you can see the elephant calves being fed), the Giraffe Centre (where you can feed the giraffe yourself) etc .
DAY 2 & 3 TORTILIS CAMP, Amboseli National Park
You will be collected from Macushla at 07h00 and transferred to Wilson Airport for the 08h15 scheduled Safarilink flight to Amboseli. You will be collected from the airstrip and taken to Tortilis Camp, where you will be greeted by the beauty of Africa’s largest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tortilis Camp consists of 17 traditional en-suite tents built raised above the ground, with spacious verandahs. There is also a family suite made up of one double and one twin room and a shared sitting and dining area. Activities include game drives, bush walks, sundowners, cultural visits to the nearby Manyatta (Maasai Hut), massage and a swimming pool to play in when the animals are sleeping in the heat of the day.
DAY 4 & 5 SABUK, Laikipia
Depart Tortilis Camp on the Safarilink scheduled flight at 09h05 back to Wilson Airport and here connect with the 10h20 Safarilink flight direct to Loisaba airstrip, where you will be met by your guide from Sabuk, home to the first Kenyan female safari guide. Sabuk is a stunning wilderness destination perched up on the high banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River with six beautifully furnished open sided cottages with en-suite bathrooms with verandah’s overlooking the river. There is also the Eagle family cottage made up of a double room, a twin room and a shared living area. Eagle cottae also has a private swimming pool. Activities include day & night game drives, guided bush walks, bush meals, sundowners, fishing, a swimming pool or why not swim in the river below the camp; the most popular way of ‘game driving’ at Sabuk is from the back of a camel.
DAY 6 SABUK, Laikipia – Optional Fly Camp with Camel Trekking
An unbeatable family bonding experience is fly camping . Today will be spent walking or riding a camel, guided by a professional crew of Samburu warriors. They will set up a fly camp for 1 night on the bank of the tumbling Ewaso Nyiro river. The trek is great for inquisitive family groups to learn more about the un-spoilt wilderness and its natural inhabitants.
DAY 7, 8 & 9 ELEPHANT PEPPER CAMP, Masai Mara
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for the 09h30 Tropic Air scheduled flight to the Masai Mara, one of Kenya’s most famous wildlife havens. The Masai Mara offers a true wildlife experience, one that is hard to duplicate anywhere else in the world. Your driver-guide will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to camp with game viewing en route. Elephant Pepper Camp is in Koiyaki Community Ranch on the border of the Masai Mara. At Elephant Pepper Camp, we bring you back to nature; no generator, no traffic, no permanent structures, just the sights and sounds of the bush with all the luxuries you need. Each of the eight tents are en-suite, one of which is a spacious honeymoon tent. Sitting around a campfire discussing your unforgettable ‘finds’ of the day is an experience all want to repeat. Activities include day & night game drives, bush walks, bush meals, sundowners and cultural visits to the local Manyatta.
DAY 10 DEPARTURE
