DAY 1
On arrival at Kuro airstrip from Arusha you will be met by
our
representative and transferred to your luxury tented camp. The drive from
the airstrip to the camp is approximately 15 minutes and there are plenty of
game viewing opportunities en route.
Tarangire is renowned for its Elephant population that flood the park in their
herds as they drink by the edge of the Tarangire River.
As you arrive at your camp you will be greeted by your butler and taken to
your tent to freshen up before lunch.
Each of the twelve tents is shaded by tall acacia trees and is within sight of
the well-frequented waterhole. Furnished with campaign chairs, comfortable
sofas, en-suite bathrooms and traditional materials, the tents at Swala are
unashamedly luxurious but still close enough to nature to permit an exciting
night under canvas.
The main dining area, deck and library are lifted on stilts around an enormous
and ancient baobab tree, allowing guests a wide view of the grasslands of
Tarangire. Animals come right up to the camp to drink at the water hole, in
front of camp, and leopard is often spotted among the baobabs nearby.
DAY 1 (cont)
In the afternoon there is time to relax before enjoying an exciting game drive by
open four wheel drive vehicle.
Huge herds of elephant, greater kudu, Impala and Zebra are all easily spotted
whilst leopard lurk in the trees. Due to the camps secluded location you are
unlikely to see many vehicles as you venture out into the national park.
As the sun fades enjoy a sundowner around the camp fire while you watch
the game carry on with their daily activities.

DAY 2
This morning awake to the sounds of the bush as a steaming hot cup of tea of
coffee is served on your tents deck.
This morning you may like to visit the nearby Gijadebung School. The school
is an initiative developed by Swala camp to educate children from the
surrounding rural areas. Visit the school and learn about the curriculum at a
rural African school as you interact with the children during their class.
Lunch can be organised either at the school with the children or you can
return to the camp.
DAY 2 (cont)
This afternoon you have time to take a refreshing swim in the pool or relax on
your private deck with a cool drink and gaze out to the waterhole and watch
as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the mid day sun.
As the afternoon progresses you may like to return to the Tarangire on an
afternoon game drive.
The beauty of Tarangire unfolds as you venture out into the baobab scattered
landscape. Migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest
and eland can all be seen in addition to Lion and Leopard. During the dry
season the concentration of wildlife in the Tarangire is second only to the
Serengeti ecosystem
Return to your camp to freshen up before enjoying your evening meal under
the stars.

DAY 3
Today you may like to rise early and put on your walking shoes for a safari on
foot with an armed ranger and professional guide.
Take advantage of this rare opportunity for a walking safari at Swala Camp,
the camp is one of the few destinations in Tanzania where walking in such a
pristine environment is possible. You will be walking through uneven terrain
so comfortable, supportive walking shoes are a must and a reasonable level
of walking fitness is required.
Return to your camp where your hosts will greet you with a refreshing drink
and a well deserved lunch.
This afternoon you have the opportunity to be as active as you wish. You
may like to relax at camp by the pool or on your verandah or return to the
bush by open 4WD vehicle for an afternoon game drive.
Another perfect day in Tarangire ends as the sun fades and you discuss the
days adventures around the camp fire with your fellow travelers.

DAY 4
Rise this morning for an early breakfast before transferring to Kuro airstrip for
your light aircraft flight to the Serengeti. Flying time is approximately 1 hour
30 minutes. Upon arrival you will be met by a Kusini representative and
transferred to the camp. Driving time to Kusini is 15 minutes from the airstrip
through the Serengeti with game viewing en route.
Arrive at your camp with time to freshen up before lunch is served.
Accommodation is offered in twelve double tents which are scattered around
the main Kopje. Each tent is attended by a personal butler and has en-suite
facilities with hot and cold running water. Private verandah’s with comfortable
furnishings extend in front of each unit.
The dining area, lounge and library are housed in the main area, which affords
spectacular views from its wooden deck and the adjacent kopje.
This afternoon discover why the Serengeti is an icon of Africa on an afternoon
game drive. The open plains spread out as far as the eye can see so it’s no
surprise that the name Serengeti comes from the Maasai language meaning,
“endless plains”. The park itself covers 14,763 sq. kilometres, making it one
of the world’s largest wildlife sanctuaries and hosts one of the world’s largest
and migrations. Every year 1.5 million wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti
to the Masai Mara followed by hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle and
other plains game in search of fresh grazing pastures. Kusini Camp is ideally
placed to catch the migration that can be found in this area of the park from
mid Dec – April when the Zebra and Wildebeest drop their young.
DAY 4 (Cont)

dinner this evening retire to the Kopjie where you may take this rare
opportunity to enjoy a star safari as the camp manager unravels the myths of
the night sky.

DAY 5 & 6
Over the next 2 days you may choose to either partake in a full day game drive

cheetah. Whilst at Kusini you have the chance to contribute to the Serengeti Cheetah
project by tracking the Serengeti’s cheetah. The photos from your sightings
will be combined with the record of their location and sent to the research
centre. In return the research centre will provide you with a detailed back
ground of your cheetah, it’s history and its family.
This evening return to camp and climb to the top of the Kopje for stunning
