Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport meet and transfer to Arusha Coffe Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon drive to Swala Camp located within a hidden pocket of Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is noted for its Elephant population and spectacular baobabs of every shape creating a beautiful setting. This evening retire to your camp’s fire for a pre dinner drink as you discuss the afternoon’s game sightings.

Swala Camp is located under majestic umbrella of acacia and Baobab trees at the south western part of the park, by the Gurusi marches. The camp offers a most peaceful setting for the traveler after a long day of game viewing. The camp comprises of 12 double tents a swimming pool, lounge and dinning mess with sweeping decks overlooking the well requested waterhole. All tents face east overlooking the marshland and watering hole and feature full length windows, indoor & outdoor shower and broad decks with comfortable lounge chairs.

Day 2 -  TARANGIRE
Awake this morning to a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee served to your tent. This morning you may like to visit the local Gijadebung School. The school is an initiative supported by Swala Camp and you have the unique opportunity to interact with the school children and learn about the curriculum in a rural African school. Return to your camp for lunch with time to relax by the pool or on your desk as you gaze out at the waterhole where elephant and impala laze away the heat of the day. This afternoon return to the bush for an afternoon game drive. View Elephant down by the Tarangire River or search for the elusive leopard that lurks in the trees.

Tarangire National Park derives its name from the Tarangire River that rises in the highlands of central Tanzania and winds its way through the game sanctuary. During the dry season the river lures herds of plains migrants from the parched surrounding area to its shrunken, brackish waters. The animals come by thousands, dramatically swelling the resident population with wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo and fringe-eared Oryx. As the rainless days continue the Tarangire’s pools are clotted with thirsty migrants, and elephants begin to dig for underground streams in the dry riverbed.

The Privacy of the location ensures near exclusivity of game-drives. The lodges ten elegant stilted tree houses are cradled in the boughs of mahogany trees, ensuring privacy for all guests. Built of timber and makuti (palm fronds), the interiors are bleached, earthy and stylishly understated. Rooms are spacious with sitting areas and viewing decks. All rooms have en suite bathrooms which include a bath, outdoor shower and twin hand basins.

Day 4 -  LAKE MANYARA-NGORONGORO
This morning, enjoy a second game drive in Manyara before being driven to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge located on the Rim with spectacular views across the Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken caldera in the world and the first sight of it is breathtaking.

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is situated on the edge of the ancient crater rim above the cool, swirling mists; the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is a return to the noble elegance of the traveling colonials. Inspired in design by the Maasai Manyatta, three separate camps of 6 to 12 suites each remember a bygone era when characters such as Lord Delamere adorned the stilted, handcrafted structures with graceful antiques, grand chandeliers and treasures collected from travels through Africa.

Day 5 - NGORONGORO CRATER
After breakfast descend into the Crater floor. Track and photograph the animals before enjoying a picnic lunch with the hippos and birds. Afternoon visit Maasai village.

The floor of the crater is only 100 sq miles but is home to around 30,000 animals with a high concentration of predators and some of the finest black-maned Lion in Africa. Rhino can be seen with calves at heel. Eland and waterbuck appear not to notice the human visitors, enabling photographers to shoot at ease. On the lake in the middle of the Crater you may see thousands of flamingos fluttering and shimmering like a pink heat haze. Zebra and wildebeest account for almost half the animals - gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and wart hog can also be seen

Dinner and overnight Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

Day 6 -  NGORONGORO - SERENGETI
This morning drive to Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is the site where Dr Mary Leakey unearthed the Zinj skull believed to be 1.8 million years old. With a picnic lunch continue your drive to your camp in the Serengeti National Park, enjoy game viewing en route.

Tents are tastefully appointed with twin or king beds, mosquito nets, crisp linen, warm blankets or duvets and hot water bottles for chilly nights. Framed pictures and local wall hangings, Persian rugs, bedside tables, wardrobes and luggage racks make your tent a true ‘home away from home’. Lighting is provided by solar power and your bathroom comes complete with a dressing table with fully plumbed washbasin, lavatory and showers – a new, and often surprising, interpretation of ‘camping’. Hot water is available throughout the day and evening and, like your laundry, morning tea or in fact your every need will be arranged by your Butler allowing for a refreshing wash, shower or maybe a shave on the veranda of your tent. The spacious veranda in front of your room is furnished with comfortable camp chairs and tables - the perfect retreat for a relaxing moment watching a weaver bird building its nest in a nearby Acacia tree, a herd of impala grazing quietly only meters away, or simply relaxing and listening to the sounds of the African bush. Camp cuisine is exceptional, using only fresh ingredients, original recipes and with beautiful presentation our camp chefs never cease to amaze our guests. We cater to all dietary requirements however demanding. Meals can be served al fresco or in the traditional mess tent and served by our liveried waiters.

Day 7 & 8 -  SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy a full day exploring the Serengeti by Four-wheel drive vehicle with thrilling morning and afternoon game drives. Whether this is your first time on Safari or a return trip the Serengeti will not disappoint.

The Serengeti National Park is arguably the most famous National Park in the world. The Serengeti perhaps defines the safari experience as surely as the wildlife that inhabits it. Established in 1951, and covering an area of almost 15,000 sq km –an area comparable to the state of Connecticut or Northern Ireland, the Serengeti hosts a fantastically diverse eco-system. The principal attraction of the Serengeti is the passing of the wildebeest migration, 1.5 million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle and other plains game that follow close behind, stalked by the inevitable predators who make the most of the ‘feast’ close at hand.
