Itinerary

Day 1 & 2

This adventure begins at Victoria Falls Airport, in Zimbabwe and ends at Maun Airport, in Botswana. Upon your arrival at Victoria Falls Airport you will be met by a member from the Adams & Butler team who will drive you to your secluded &Beyond Chobe Under Canvas campsite, near the Chobe River (clearing customs and immigration en route). Further north from the Okavango Delta lies Chobe National Park, encompassing 11 000km² of wilderness, bordered in the north by the beautiful Chobe River, and buffered on all sides by wildlife management areas and forest reserves allowing for the free movement of game. Known as one of the top wilderness reserves in the world and home to the largest single concentration of elephant, Chobe National Park is a wildlife enthusiast’s dream. Throughout the year, herds of buffalo and elephant can be seen drinking at the river’s edge, with their numbers swelling into hundreds and thousands during the dry season. Two region specific antelope, the puku and the Chobe bushbuck can not be seen anywhere in Botswana except on the Chobe riverfront.

Spend two nights at &Beyond Chobe Under Canvas. Accommodation is in a spacious tent, with ensuite bathroom, separate W.C. and an al fresco bucket shower (hot water delivered on request). Your stay includes three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, emergency medical evacuation insurance, laundry, daily lodge activities and park fees.

Adventures include twice-daily game drives in semi-open 4x4 vehicles, with guaranteed window seat, and a boat cruise along the Chobe River

Insider’s tips — &Beyond Chobe Under Canvas: · Savour mouth-watering menus as you dine beneath the stars and enjoy a personalised butler service. · At the end of a successful day of game viewing, sip on a nightcap around the camp fire and unwind as your ranger keeps you spellbound with their many enthralling stories of the bush..

Day 3 & 4

Today you will be driven to Kasane Airport where you will be met by a representative from Adams & Butler who will assist and direct you to your light aircraft flight to the Savute or Khwai Airstrip, depending on which of our Under Canvas camps is open at that time of year. &Beyond Savute Under Canvas is operational from March to September and &Beyond Moremi Under Canvas is open from September to January.

Some of the largest concentrations of wildlife in Southern Africa are found in the Savute (sometimes spelled Savuti) area. Situated in the famous Chobe National Park on the border of the Okavango Delta, Savute is best known for its channel, which mysteriously fills up and dries up periodically, seemingly unrelated to the rainfall. Savute supports the greatest concentration of the king of all beasts – the lion. The landscape of Savute is strikingly different from the lush Chobe riverfront, with an almost desert-like feeling.

As the only proclaimed wildlife reserve in the Okavango Delta, Moremi contains about a quarter of the Okavango’s breathtaking waterways, islands and lagoons — widely regarded as one of Botswana’s most beautiful reserves. Game viewing is excellent year-round.

Spend two nights at &Beyond Savute Under Canvas or &Beyond Moremi Under Canvas. Accommodation is in a spacious tent, with attached bathroom that features a separate w.c. and an al fresco bucket shower (hot water delivered on request). Your stay includes three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, emergency medical evacuation insurance, laundry, daily lodge activities and park fees. Adventures include twice-daily game drives in semi-open 4x4 vehicles with guaranteed window seat and uninterrupted views.

Insider’s tips: · Feast on breakfast platters laden with toast, jams and marmalades, homemade muesli, fresh fruits and assorted cheeses or enjoy a hot breakfasts prepared on the open fire, with eggs, omelettes, frittatas and freshly cooked pot breads. · Swap stories of the day’s adventures, around the campfire, with your fellow guests and ranger, while you sip on a cognac or nightcap of your choice.

Day 5 & 6

Today you will be flown by light aircraft to Saile airstrip.                      The Linyanti Wildlife Management Area is a hidden gem, tucked away in the northeastern corner of Chobe National Park. The Selinda Spillway links Linyanti to the Okavango Delta and it is renowned as one of the best game viewing areas in the region, supporting a great diversity of wildlife, with large herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra. Due to its remoteness, the Linyanti is a gorgeous, unspoiled region of waterways and lagoons, riverine forests, huge trees and palm tree islands. Game viewing is superlative in both the wet and dry season, and the birding is exceptional.

Spend two nights at Linyanti Bush Camp. Accommodation is in a tent on the banks of the Linyanti marshes. Your stay includes all meals, all beverages (except premium imported spirits and champagne) and activities. Adventures include game drives, guided walking safaris and evening drives.

Insider’s tips —Linyanti Bush Camp: · Ask your hosts for a refreshing gin and tonic and unwind on the viewing deck, with your binoculars in hand, while you enjoy the breathtaking views of the Linyanti flood plains. · Swap stories around the campfire with your guide or enjoy an evening gazing at the starlit sky.

Day 7 & 8

Today you will be flown by light aircraft to Khwai Airstrip.                    The only proclaimed wildlife reserve in the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve is also widely regarded as the most beautiful. Moremi Game Reserve has the most diverse habitat and animal populations in Botswana. The reserve contains about a quarter of the Okavango Delta and stretches across several thousand square kilometres, comprising a stunning landscape of forests, lagoons, floodplains and islands. Game viewing is excellent year-round and resident species include lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, wild dog, zebra, red lechwe and many more.

Spend two nights at Khwai Tented Camp. Accommodation is in a semi-permanent, Hemingway-style tent. Your stay includes all meals, all beverages (except premium brands) and adventures.            Adventures include game drives, guided walking safaris, evening drives and a visit to the old bushman village of Khwai.
