- Primate Safari Uganda  -

12 Days

Meet the primates of Uganda! From the chimp island you will travel for an unforgettable encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas, followed by some relaxing moments on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi. Spend a full day in Queen Elizabeth National Park where you go in search of lions and elephants, and find the wild chimpanzees in their natural habitat in Kibale Forest.

Day 1: Arrival:

You will be welcomed by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. Overnight at Airport Guesthouse (2*) / Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel (4*).


Day 2: Ngamba Island:

A visit to the island of the chimpanzees! Travel by boat to Ngamba Island where you are able to learn about the life of the chimps and view them from only a few meters away. In the afternoon return to Kampala. Overnight at Green Valley Hotel (2*) / Golf Course Hotel (4*).


Day 3: Kampala – Bwindi National Park:

Very early in the morning we leave Kampala for a long journey towards the western part of Uganda. As we drive through the verdant countryside, you will pass traditional homesteads and have panoramic views of the surroundings. Overnight at Buhoma Community Rest Camp (1*) / Engagi Lodge (3-4*).

Day 4: ay Bwindi National Park:

The highlight of your safari: a meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Expect to walk in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain
overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. A
unique and unforgettable experience! Overnight at Buhoma Community Rest Camp (1*) / Engagi Lodge (3-4*).

Day 5 : Bwindi NP – La Lake ke Bunyonyi:

After breakfast we leave Bwindi and transfer to the “Lake of the small birds”. Relax, take a swim or go for a canoe trip while you watch the
beautiful sunset. Overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Camp (2*) / Arcadia Cottages (3*).

Day 6: La Lake Bunyonyi ke – Queen Elizabeth NP:

On our way to Queen Elizabeth National Park you will pass the southern sector of the park, known for the tree climbing lions. While we continue to our accommodation in the middle of the park you might spot some wildlife like kobs and warthogs. Overnight at Simba Safari Camp (2*) / Katara Lodge (4*).

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park:

The day begins early when we start with a morning game drive and head to the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs. We search for lions,
elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat, before returning for lunch. In the afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Overnight at Simba Safari Camp (2*) / Katara Lodge (4*).

Day 8 Queen Elizabeth NP – Kibale NP:

After breakfast we will go for a hike in Kyambura Wildlife Reserve in search of the chimpanzees. It is a beautiful walk through the river valley, completely covered with tropical rainforest. We continue to Fort Portal, a lovely town in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon, and then proceed to Kibale National Park for a stay within the tropical forest. Overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale cottages (3*)  / Primate Lodge Kibale safari tents (4*).

Day 9: Kibale Forest & Bigodi Swamp:

Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, redtailed monkey, black-and-white-colobus monkey and many others. After lunch we transfer to the Bigodi Swamp which is managed by the local community and is famous for the many species of birds and primates. Overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale cottages (3*) / Primate Lodge Kibale safari tents (4*).

Day 10: ay Kibale NP – Kampala:

After breakfast we drive back to Kampala with lunch en route. Look out for the black-and-white - colobus monkeys which are hiding along the road. Arrival in Kampala in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Green Valley Hotel (2*) / Golf Course Hotel (4*).

Day 11: Jinja:

Today we will visit the genuine origin of themighty river Nile. In Jinja we visit the Source of the Nile and the magnificent Bujagali Falls. Those who want to experience some adventure can decide to go rafting for a half or full day (optional, not included). Late in the afternoon transfer back to Kampala. Overnight at Green Valley Hotel (2*) / Golf Course Hotel (4*).

Day 12: Departure:

Enriched with an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa. Depending on the time of departure you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
