The Orchard of the Shooting Star comprises two houses, available separately or together but on an exclusive basis. They are situated in five acres of grounds in La Palmeraie, an exclusive suburb just ten minutes from the medina. The Riad House is built around a characteristic inner courtyard, entered via an impressive row of columns. The Doll's House is much smaller in proportions and, although it has a separate entrance and its own access to the swimming pool, blends perfectly with the Riad House for larger parties. Both houses are decorated and furnished in warm colours, with Moroccan rugs, colourful cushions and wall hangings. The salon by the swimming pool is particularly delightful, with large French windows opening directly onto the pool terrace. There are ceiling fans throughout, and fireplaces for use on cooler winter nights. The Riad House has central heating in most rooms, a TV and music system. The swimming pool is built in the shape of a Moorish arch and can be heated on request. There is a tennis court and the surrounding grounds are used as a working farm and orchard, producing olive oil, apricots and vegetables for the kitchen, and there are several resident pets and other animals, including a riding camel.
OPINION
These two fabulously ornate Marrakesh homes, rented separately are great for families, or together for groups of friends. The atmospheric city centre is within easy reach.
