Dating back to the 1920’s, this house was built in English colonial style on two acres of terraced gardens, located in the village of St James, within walking distance of its ocean rock pools and five minutes drive of the beach at Fish Hoek. The main living areas are on the ground floor, with two kitchens and two living rooms and a dining room giving onto three outdoor verandas and a courtyard surrounded by a lawn terrace, balustraded, dropping down to a lower terrace. The 11m x 5.5m swimming pool is next to the house, and there is garaging for one car and parking for four more.

In our opinion this wonderful colonial house, with its gardens reminiscent of the French Mediterranean and its beautiful location just above the quiet village of St James is ideal for families wanting to experience the Cape at its unhurried best.

ACCOMMODATION

Six bedrooms, comprising one superking, two double, one twin and two single. Four bathrooms. Maximum ten guests.

STAFF

Daily housekeeper, cleaner, laundress and resident gardener. Live-in Cook from December to March can provide meals on request.

DISTANCES

Airport 35 minutes drive, Cape Town city bowl and waterfront 25 minutes drive, Fish Hoek beach ten minutes drive.
