INTRODUCTION

Fearn Lodge has all the charm of a really comfortable Highland Lodge and it is a pleasure to stay and relax in the true countryside of northern Scotland, so far removed from the stresses and strains of modern living. There are numerous sporting opportunities from walking, salmon and trout fishing to bird watching, deer stalking and grouse shooting or simply taking the chance to soak up the rich atmosphere and culture of this 13,000 acre estate in such an historic part of Scotland.

HISTORY

Fearn Lodge was originally built in 1870 by Alexander Matheson of the famous Hong Kong traders Jardine Matheson. It was at this time that the Highland Railway opened up the North of Scotland and in 1894 the present owner's grandfather, Sir John Arthur Brooke Bt, purchased the estate and developed the grouse moor into one of the best in Scotland. The estate has remained in the family ever since. The family textile business of John Brooke & Sons was started in 1541 in Yorkshire and is the oldest father and son business in Britain today.
