Luxury Vacation Villas & Chateau Rentals in France- Aquitaine
CHATEAU DE LA BOURLIE
URVAL, DORDOGNE,

La Bourlie is a beautiful chateau situated in the heart of one of the most ancient and stunning areas of France, the Perigord. Tucked away in the hills behind the main valley of the Dordogne, La Bourlie occupies one of the most idyllic sites in the area. The chateau sits on a hillside surrounded by gardens, meadows and woodlands, ensuring total peace and privacy. A picturesque private small road leads you up the hill through the estate’s forest arriving at a magnificent view of La Bourlie and its surrounding countryside. With origins dating back to the 14th century, this listed historic monument has been in the Commarque family for more than six hundred years; still, today, La Bourlie is lived in all year round and therefore has a very genuine character. The chateau’s architecture with its sandy-coloured stones is typical of the Perigord Noir and radiates warmth and great charm. Lemon trees line the courtyard and the walls are covered in climbing roses, all accentuating La Bourlie’s romantic atmosphere.
The Marquis and The Marquise de Commarque will be happy to welcome you at La Bourlie for a week or longer at any time of the year. The accommodation comprises of the right wing of the chateau which is across the courtyard from the family quarters. This wing is entirely self-contained and comprises the Fournial and the Chapelain situated on either side of the chapel, each with its own entrance. Extensive renovations respecting the original features yet incorporating modern conveniences have recently been carried out and greatly add to the high standards and charming atmosphere of the property. Great attention has been given to the interiors, which are comfortably furnished with antiques.
The garden with its large pool, gently merging into nature with no formal boundaries, has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. You are also welcome to enjoy the park with its impressive alley of lime trees, topiaries and the many different kinds of rose bushes.
