With records dating back as far as the fifteenth Century, indications are that Chateau de Cambes was connected to prominent regional figures and historical dignitaries. In fact this was once the summer residence of the Bishops of Agen. The Chateau is located at the end of a long, winding chemin that leads to the summit of an expansive slope. From this vantage point, the view stretches across peaceful pastures, encompasses the silhouette of the town of Agen and that of Marmande on the far horizon. The gardens cover an area of 6 hectares and have magnificent towering cedar trees and scented magnolia trees adding to the tranquil setting. Inside, the Orangerie with its medieval fireplace and baby grand piano the room has a great historic feeling however, in this modern day of business and commerce the Orangerie can be used as a very suitable conference room . Most of the rooms in the Chateau, including the bedrooms have wonderful fireplaces. The day salons are comfortably furnished to relax and enjoy the coolness in the summer, with the thick walls of the Chateau acting as a barrier to the heat of the summer or the cold in winter. Bedrooms are large and spacious and are furnished to compliment the surroundings. The area around Agen has many tourist attractions including Jazz festivals, daily markets and vineyards, so if the quiet surroundings of Chateau de Cambes is too much you can easily travel a short distance to a bustling town.
