Chateau Le Mont Epinguet, built in 1751, originally stood in 4,000 acres. Occupied during the war by German forces as a communications headquarters, it is a delightful and informal, yet grand old house with faded elegance and beautiful proportioned rooms. Set in 3 acres, the Chateau is just 8 miles from the port of Cherbourg, and only 30 minutes from superb sandy beaches, making it the perfect destination for families and get-togethers. It is the ideal base from which to explore the great historical attractions for which Normandy is famous, including the Bayeaux Tapestry (only 45 minutes away), Mont Saint Michael, the landing beaches, war museums as well as the local french markets, restaurants and picturesque coastal walks. The oak panelled dining room can seat all your family around the dining tables while the three sitting rooms allow enough space for everyone to enjoy a relaxing holiday. In the grounds there is a large barn with games area. The Carriage House situated at the entrance gate is completely self-contained and can be used for additional accommodation or in its own right.
