La Retirado is entered through a charming courtyard with orange trees and a fountain, and is surrounded by terraces furnished for dining and relaxing in complete privacy and seclusion.
The swimming pool (12 x 6m, with electric cover) has a cascade falling into one end, while a pool house is equipped with a kitchen with sink, fridge and barbecue and a thatched dining area.
The surrounding garden is planted with olive trees, citrus and cypress trees, lavender and flowering vines, and there is a tennis court. The villa is equally delightful inside. On the ground floor the living room combines old and new, with a large period fireplace as well as a 42 TV with Sky, VCR, DVD and CD. Spacious and light, this room has French doors opening onto terrace with sea views, a dining area, and leads onto a fully-equipped kitchen with a seven-ring Godin oven and a separate kitchen terrace. The master bedroom opens onto the pool terrace and garden, with beautiful views, and has a super king-size bed, TV, air conditioning, dressing room and large en-suite bathroom. Stairs lead up to the first floor, which contains a spacious twin en-suite bedroom, a double and a twin/double bedroom, both en-suite. Both have a degree of independence with separate access from the terrace.
OPINION
This very beautiful property is situated on a hillside south of La Garde Freinet. It is close to the attractions of St Tropez but unspoilt and peaceful, and is surrounded by oak and chestnut forests with stunning views to the mountains and the sea. The two kilometre road that leads to La Retirado gives it a uniquely private atmosphere.
ACCOMMODATION
Two double, one twin and one twin/double bedrooms. Maximum 8 guests
STAFF
Obligatory maid service 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, payable locally. Housekeeper who will do personal laundry on request. Resident guardian for the swimming pool, garden, and general maintenance.
