Lou Roucas is seemingly carved from the cliff, with exposed rock forming much of the back wall, beautifully off-set by the cream plaster work and French Tavel stone used throughout. The property sits on three floors with two terraces to the east side of the house, one vaulted with a large wrought iron table and chairs ideal for evening drinks or dinner and a third on the west side with teak tables and chairs leading down to a shaded seating area, 4m x 8m swimming pool and compact private shaded garden- laid to grass, there is a bed with rosemary and lavender to one side and a fig tree with ripe figs in August/September. The principal living area, with an open fire and heating units, DVD, TV and CD, is situated on the middle level, with down-filled sofas, dining table and open-plan Provenal kitchen. A restored stone staircase leads down to the swimming pool, garden, and two compact bedrooms, one with a bunk bed and the other with a double, sharing a shower room. The master bedroom is on the top floor, with an open plan bathroom, ceiling fan, and additional mezzanine sleeping area. With magnificent views of the Luberon mountains from every window and each of its many terraces, this is an ideal base, close to the other villages of the Luberon.

OPINION

This spectacular house is a magical base , though parents of young children should be aware that one of the lower bedrooms has direct access to the pool and the master bedroom is two floors above. Also, while the climb to the village centre is short, it is also steep.

ACCOMMODATION

Two double bedrooms. One twin bunk room. Maximum six guests.

STAFF

Maid service included once mid week and once on Saturday. Additional maid service, Cook and babysitting on request.

Shops and restaurants in Gordes , 5 mins walk or drive, golf course 15 mins drive, Avignon TGV station 45 mins, Marseille airport 60 mins.
