Tucked away amongst the protected Maremma Natural Park, La Torre dell Argentario was erected as a watch tower to protect the Tuscan coast, and has now been converted to provide luxurious accommodation in a historic setting. It is approached by a private drive through a grove of cacti. The entrance gives onto a hall, off which is a fully equipped kitchen to the left and to the right of the hall are three double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Stairs lead up to the first floor and a huge living room, air-conditioned, with fireplace, and lit by 180-degree views, including a dining area seating eight. From here doors open onto the terrace with dining on one side and sunbeds on the other and spectacular views.The lookout tower has also been restored and is accessed by a corridor. It provides a double bedroom with en-suite shower room on the ground floor and a small terrace above. The tower is surrounded by two terraces, one of which has a panoramic view with deckchairs. It also has an independent walking trail which leads to its own private sunbathing deck and a jetty that can offer private boat docking. There is a Jacuzzi in the garden.
OPINION
With its stunning views, historical heritage and natural setting, this property has preserved its ancient structure with a bright, modern style and refinements. However, it is not recommended for toddlers because there is no play area and steep steps down to the sea.
