Set on the western side of Lake Maggiore in the beautiful park of Lagoni di Mercurago, this property was built by a famous architect and has recently been fully updated. In its time it has been featured in several design magazines as a leading icon of the 1960’s, now perfectly furnished to suit a new generation. At the heart of the villa is a main circular section with a high domed ceiling, containing a huge sitting room that was once a dance hall, a dining room, study, large kitchen and staff bedroom. The guest bedrooms are in two wings, with each side containing a large master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and a further double bedroom and a twin bedroom, sharing a bathroom. The extensive lawned gardens are surrounded by mature trees, guaranteeing guest’s privacy but still allowing several viewpoints overlooking Lake Maggiore. The grounds also include an 10m x 5m swimming pool, surrounded by a sun terrace. At the heart of one of Italy’s most desirable areas, this villa is a classic example of its kind.

OPINION

This glorious 1960’s architect-designed villa has been recently restored, bringing la dolce vita to a wonderful region of Italy, in the fashionable area around Lake Maggiore. The bedrooms are in two separate wings spread around a lovely, domed circular living area that doubles as a ballroom. This house is superb for some serious entertaining.

Maid service included 10 hours a week.

Arona (village, shops) 15 mins walk/2 mins drive, Stresa (town, motorway exit) 15 mins, Milan (airport) 40 mins. .
