Overlooking the Mira River, Quinta do Monte is set amongst
prairie landscapes and whitewashed villages two hours south of Lisbon. The
property has been constructed in traditional style, with rooms set around a
central courtyard, and interiors comfortable and elegant, with wooden beams and
stone flagged floors. The open-plan kitchen and dining room opens to a covered
terrace with outdoor dining area, as does the separate sitting room/library,
with a fireplace, telephone and TV/VCR/CD. The en-suite master bedroom has river
views and doors onto the river terrace, while two double bedrooms and one twin
bedroom share the river views, but also a large shower bathroom. The final
double bedroom has en-suite facilities, but opens onto the courtyard. The villa
has a 24m x 4m swimming pool. Down on the river, 200m from the house, is its
private diving pontoon. A separate cottage offers an extra, simple bedroom,
available on request.
OPINION
This modern country house is down a 2.5km private road in a quiet part of Portugal, excellent for those who love the natural world but a fair way from nightlife.
ACCOMMODATION
Four double bedrooms and one twin. Maximum ten guests.
STAFF
Maid/housekeeper included, four hours a day, five days a week. Cook available for one meal a day to be paid extra locally.

Vila Nova de Milfontes (shops, market, P.O. and restaurants) 10 mins drive, Malhao & Furnas Beaches 10 mins, Troia (golf course) 60 mins, Lisbon (airport) 120 mins.
