Perched on the top of the steep sided Ayung River valley in Padang Galak, Villa Leha Leha is a princely private villa, offering splendour in a wonderful inland world of rice paddies and coconut palms. Entrance is through Balinese gates and across a lily pond to an air-conditioned mezzanine level, with the state-of-the-art kitchen and dining area with seating for ten. Sliding French windows lead to steps down from the dining room to the large, open living area with comfortable seating for 10 people, satellite TV, VCR, DVD and stereo. More steps descend to the 12m x 5m swimming pool and patio, with paths, left and right, to the bedroom pavilions. Three of the bedrooms have king-size beds, while the fourth bedroom has a queen-size bed. They all have mosquito net, ceiling fan, air conditioning, CD stereo and hairdryer. The two front bedrooms, with views across the valley, also have private verandas with plunge pool. Each bedroom is located in its own individual thatched pavilion and has en-suite facilities with cool marble tiles, bathtub, indoor and outdoor showers, double wash basin and WC. Adjoining the queen-bedded room is an office. Two extra beds are available which can be set up in the study or the bedrooms.

OPINION

This is superbly elegant residence close to the sedate resort town of Sanur. The island of Bali is endlessly fascinating but the driving is hectic, the supplied car and driver lets you explore at leisure and in comfort.
