Literally meaning 'Moonbeams' Sanda Kirana is a beautifully designed beach house that looks south west across the Indian Ocean . The design was conceived by the owners and implemented by a leading Australian architect. You enter the premises from the main 'Galle to Matara' road through a large garden area. From here a staircase rises through double-doors into the main house. Immediately upon entering the villa there is a water garden stocked with numerous tropical fish, surrounded by borders of tropical plants. Moving past the water garden the magnificent perspective of breaking waves opens up before you. A large swimming pool is the central feature of the villa's design, with the sitting room and en-suite bedrooms - all furnished with antique Sri Lankan furniture - opening out to the pool on one side. On the other side is a covered veranda and at the pool’s foot is the dining room. Breakfast is provided and consists of fresh fruit , toast, eggs or local delicacies such as "egg hoppers" or "string hoppers". Tea - naturally - as well as coffee is always provided. For other meals , discuss your requirements with the house manager, who together with the cook, will shop on your behalfby means of a cash account set up for purchases. The house manager can on request arrange yoga and massage services at nearby centres.

OPINION

Our opinion is that this villa is ideal for families , groups of friends, and honeymooners seeking complete privacy. The sandy beach at the end of the garden is bounded by a coral reef and is recommended for strong swimmers.
