The small and private island is dominated by the beautifully restored villa that sits on top of the island, faithfully keeping to its original design with soaring, arched ceilings and with wonderful views from each room. At the heart of the villa is an elegant, high-roofed lobby, giving onto simple but tastefully furnished guest bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom, spacious verandas and balconies, set with period and handcrafted planter’s chairs and traditional, delicate fabrics. Each arch and window looks out over the Bay of Welligama, searing blue under the tropical sun and dotted with wooden fishing vessels, and the lush Sri Lankan shore. One of the best and most beautiful surfing beaches on the south coast lies a short drive down the coast, and the historic Dutch town of Galle is within easy reach, but many guests just wish to stay on their own private island, enjoying some of the finest views in the world.

OPINION

This wonderful villa, set on its own private island and protected by full-time security guards, offers the chance for an intimate and unforgetable holiday. Beaches are within easy reach (although currents can be strong) and there is an infinity pool on the west of island.
